I DON'T HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE ACTING, CAN I STILL AUDITION?
A: Of course! SuTCo auditions are open to everyone regardless of prior experience or knowledge of theatre. We know it may seem nerve-wracking at first coming to an audition if you've never acted before, but you never know, you may be an undiscovered star! So please do come along... and bring some friends too!

DO I HAVE TO COME TO EVERY AUDITION SESSION?
A: No. Most shows will have 2 or 3 first round audition sessions, of which you only need to attend 1. Once these first round sessions have been completed, you will be contacted by email to let you know whether you have been successful or not in getting a call back. If you get a call-back, congratulations! You must then attend the call-back session.
WHAT IF I CAN'T MAKE THE AUDITIONS?
A: Firstly, send us an email at theatre.company@shef.ac.uk explaining your problem. Most issues with auditions can be sorted out, and teams can try to find a time to see you audition. If you able to come to one of the first-round auditions, but unable to stay for the whole time listed or be there at the beginning of the session, please contact us and we will pass this information on to the production team of that show. 9 times out of 10 you will be able to go along for a shorter period of time to audition. If you can't make any of the audition sessions, it may be slightly more difficult for the production team to see you, but they will make every effort to find a slot for you. If you can't make a call-back, you should respond to the call-backs email explaining your problem. However, we advise that you try and keep dates for call-backs free if possible when auditioning for a show.
I DIDN'T GET A CALL-BACK. HOW ELSE CAN I GET INVOLVED?
A: Unfortunately, auditions for SuTCo shows are generally very well attended and competition can be very strong. However, if you don't get a call-back, don't despair! There are plenty of other ways to get involved. We are always on the look out for people to help on technical, backstage and front of house teams. Additionally, we hold regular socials including first night meals after every opening night of a SuTCo show and after-show parties on their closing night. There will also be loads of other acting opportunities throughout the year, including Platform Performance Festival, as well as theatre skills workshops and play readings. We also run a weekly radio play on forge radio, for which we are always looking for actors! If you are interested in any of these opportunities please send an email to theatre.company@shef.ac.uk
SuTCo will be holding auditions for its Autumn 2015/16 season on:
Saturday 26th September 12-5pm
Sunday 27th September 12-5pm
Moday 28th September 5-10pm
Rooms TBC
An event will shortly be made on our Facebook page for the most up-to-the-minute information including times and locations. You can also ask any questions you have via the event, or email us at theatre.company@sheffield.ac.uk. There will of course be opportunities to audition for other projects throughout the year, so do keep checking back!
DO I NEED TO PREPARE ANYTHING?
A: For the vast majority of SuTCo auditions you do not need to prepare an audition piece or monologue in advance. If this is the case (for example with auditions for our partner theatre companies), it will be made very clear on the information put out about the auditions.
